The Body is Wounded

The Body is Wounded

Enguerrand_Quarton,_La_Pietà_de_Villeneuve-lès-Avignon_(c._1455)The body is wounded.
Broken for our transgressions.
Presented for our healing.
And divided again by our iniquities.

A voice cries out in the wilderness:
The Kingdom of God has arrived!
Rejoice!  Rejoice!
Lift high the Cross!
He has overcome!

But the body is wounded.
Forgotten in the remembrance.
Obscured by transgression.
God re-made in man’s image.
Jeremiah cries out!
But shhhh!

And the Virgin weaps
Over His wounds, His body.
