Giveaway: Padre Pio, Saint of the Week

Pencils by Brian J. Sealey

{Note from the Editor: The other day, Brian mentioned an idea to do an illustration of a Saint each week. I’ve been looking for a little something extra to provide our readers, and this seemed like a perfect way.} The illustration is original pencil work done on a 4×6 index card, which will be sent as a postcard to the winner.

How to Enter: Leave a comment on any post this week. The best comment will be chosen the winner. Make sure you include a valid email address when you post so that we can contact you!

Feast Day: September 23, 2012

Padre Pio is one of the most beloved of recently canonized saints, and led a truly extraordinary Christian life. A stigmatist, miracle-worker, reader of souls and even bi-locator, what truly set Padre Pio apart was not the fantastic elements of his life, but his humility and submission to those in authority over him. From americancatholic.org, “…Padre Pio was not permitted to celebrate Mass publicly or to hear confessions. He did not complain of these decisions, which were soon reversed.”
